Wow. I never knew Shakers’ beliefs were so gender-equal. It’s a real revelation to discover a branch of Christianity that wasn’t invested in supporting the patriarchy. Thanks for the education!

I looove crazy Christian feminists! I love that she wanted to abolish marriage! Fabulous idea really. It’s interesting to see the ways in which religion in some contexts provides a way for women to get ahead/be listened to, although we usually hear about the ways religion brings us down as a gender.
