The North Dakota House voted yesterday in favor of requiring abortion providers in the state to “inform” women that abortion terminates the life of a human being. The bill’s sponsors just want to arm women with the facts, dontchaknow! This beacon of journalistic integrity says the bill will “help women be more informed about the decision to abort.”

Oh, is that right?  If the goal is to educate us silly, impulsive women, then why does Rep. Chuck Damschen (R) say, “If it prevented even one woman from having an abortion … it would be a good bill?”  That’s the stupidest cost-benefit analysis I’ve ever encountered. Personally I think a successful abortion policy outcome is one wherein the number of abortions performed reflects the number needed.

Need further proof that the “pro-life” agenda is one predicated on the notion that a woman’s body is a mere vessel for the children (i.e. property) of men? The measure says a woman’s egg becomes a human being when it is fertilized by a man’s sperm.  Sperm is magic, in the eyes of these sickos.  Gestating a fetus isn’t work; splooging is the real reproductive effort!  Eggs are just empty, lifeless pods awaiting that sperm magic that will immediately turn them into “people.”

Representatives voted 61 to 31 in favor of the bill. Next stop: North Dakota Senate.

I would like for the legislators who pass laws like this to find one – JUST ONE – woman who doesn’t “understand” what an abortion does.
Wait, you mean this isn’t the line for the free hugs?

    I wonder if they sang…
    “Every sperm is sacred.
    Every sperm is great.
    If a sperm is wasted,
    God gets quite irate.”
    …while writing the bill…

    hah.
well, I guess we all know that fanatics generally don’t adhere to science.
Counter info to qualify what we already know:

An egg is the most dna rich cell in the human body. It is a complete organism with a plethora of genetic information. The sperm- well that TINY little bit of genetic info is impoverished compared to our beautiful eggs. Even the Y chromosome, so revered by patriarchy, a sad imitation of genetic information compared to our beautiful robust X’s. And we have TWO. :)

Apparently, they missed the bio class memo that only 15% of fertilized eggs implant. Murder 85% of the time! Gasp! Heavens! etc.

Soon, we will dedicate research money to determine why so many of these “people” are suicidal.

Hopefully it’ll die in the Senate. I would like to give a shout-out to the 31 who voted against, as I know that they will all be opposed next election by plenty of pamphlets, commercials, and cold-calls calling them baby killers and “abortionists.”
