Thank you so much. P.S., for tearing this shit apart. I’m often so inclined (and have done so in the past), but rage tends to get in the way of expressing my ire as articulately as you have done here.

I’m thrilled to say that I have *almost* nothing more to add. But I have to ask (referencing the last quoted paragraph) – since when did telling girls that owning their sexuality was okay equate to telling them that they were “weak” unless they used said sexuality to control others (namely the poor, hapless mens)? Regardless of whether or not I agree with the premise (hint: I do not), I would think that this notion would give them a sense of *power*, not the opposite (incorrect as the notion might be).

And since when does putting the choice of contraception and/or termination in the hands of a woman tell her that sex is “consequence-free”?!? As a teen (way back when), the decision to demand a condom, and the decision to use hormonal contraception, made it painfully clear to me that sex was NOT free of consequences. And that I was the ultimate sufferer of said consequences, and the one who could limit them.

I don’t often use the term “stabby”, but Gunter had better hope he never encounters me in a dark alley.

I thought one of the goals of feminism was to, you know, end violence against women.

Anti-feminists have the most warped idea of men–like men have absolutely no moral agency of their own. As vile as the cell phone-wielding rival may be (or not be–I don’t know the details of what really happened), how in the world is she responsible for this boy choosing to brutally murder a teenage girl?
