I am disappointed that this article was published by the London Times; I used to think that paper was, like, respectable. Is there any major modern news outlet that is worthy of my respect? Or has journalism always been this fraught with quackery and I’m only just now waking up to the truth? It’s frustrating.

I actually find skirts waaaaaay more comfy. That’s why I have like 7-8 work skirts and only 2-3 work pants. I’d wear them even more if I didn’t live in Michigan. (freezing)

“Exchanging sex for meat” is transactional. It’s not about gender constructs, unless femininity = prostitution (which, maybe).

It’s flat-out ridiculous to compare how animals get food in the wild with how women choose clothes for the workplace.

Technically, we ARE just as hairy as chimps; we have the same number of hair follicles per square inch as they do, but it’s generally much lighter and thinner hair.

Considering how many women report problems with finding clothes which fit properly (and, if we’re talking about wearing tailored clothes for work, fit is crucial,) the ‘skirts vs. trousers’ is an argument generated in fantasy land.

I buy what fits well and is in my price bracket. I can’t always have exactly what I want – I don’t always have a choice.

@Rachel S.: Was this study geared towards Mary Kay employees? Because I can understand the rationale behind them saying that — makeup is equated (falsely, I believe) with femininity, as are skirts as Rumbelow so amply demonstrates. So skirts could be viewed as being a match to selling cosmetics. But studies can be distorted to show anything!
