Prof. Maathai is one of my heroes :) I’m writing a Swahili paper on East African women and she was the first one that came to mind. She’s so cool b/c she gets shit done and combines feminism with environmentalism. I’m pretty sure she’s hiding a halo under her hat in that picture. I don’t know why she isn’t better known in the U.S. I mean, she has a Nobel Prize for the love of god.
