I'm actually a guy named Kelly myself (I found this blog when I was doing some searching for something else on the Internet). I like my name and I would love to see more boys with unisex names like mine (I'm 24 so I was born well after the name became more popular for girls). I actually think that Kelly is a good one to try and reclaim if you're ambitious about returning these kinds of names to boys, since it has declined quite a bit in popularity for girls in recent years.

According to internet name sites, there are boys named Lyndsay but of course it has never crossed over to be a boy's name.

I'm guessing it's also more common to slightly change a boy's name to turn it into a girl's name than vice versa. I'm guessing Kyle, Eric, and Alexander came before Kyla, Erica and Alexandria. Anyway, I love this post and would love another name post sometime.

I just learned that there is another idiotic baby name: Bandit. The lead singer of a band called My Chemical Romance (never heard their music) named his daughter Bandit.

I give up. I think I'll go through with my original plan and just name my next child Darth Gollum (of a Lesser God).

How timely...we're making lists of possible names for the boy-child to be birthed at the end of the summer and one of the troubles I'm having is finding a name that doesn't scream gender.

Avery is at the top of the list. But now that I've discovered it's a top 20 name, I'm less excited about it. Not because it's a "girls name," but because I had hoped to fall in love with something more unusual.

Personal bias; I have an extremely unusual name that is pretty gender ambiguous. My husband's name is a top 20 boy name though, so he's less inclined to look for something unique.
