emilyanne, I’m so glad you enjoyed the post! I was hoping you’d see it after I mentioned writing about Nellie Bly to you last week. She was so kick-ass. It’s sad that so much of what passes for today’s undercover “muckraking” journalism is now limited to Geraldo-style ambush reporting.

yay, Nellie Bly is one of my personal heroines, I love her. Until i studied journalism in the US i’d never heard of her but I have to say thanks to NYU’s grad course for initially bringing her to my attention all those years ago and thanks to sarah for the post.
