I absolutely loved visiting Seneca Falls. Not to mention that that statue is near the beautiful Episcopal Church in Seneca Falls, where Elizabeth Cady Stanton and her family worshipped at. (Her son once asked why the priest was “wearing a dress”. Ha)

I sometimes wonder what people from a century or two ago would think about how we write English today. It’s interesting how it changes. It takes some concentration to read those passages.

First of all, I love that you carry the Bill of Rights in your wallet. Second of all, I love that you posted this. Third of all (is that even a legit phrase?), the passage We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness DEFINITELY strikes me as being every inch the feminist manifesto.

Thanks so much for posting this. I vaguely recall reading some of this during my short-lived enrollment in a Womens’ Studies graduate program. The language may seem clunky, but I can picture these amazing women sitting in a room, pouring over the Declaration and passionately articulating their demands. KICK-ASS.
