Kate Harding interviews Crystal Renn!
A neat piece about the emergence of the “flappers” in the 1920′s
Camille Paglia is a birther. Why won’t she just go awaaaay?
A rage-inducing essay on the Root, telling black women to “get real” (and stop dreaming of catching your very own Barack)
RIP Crystal Lee Sutton (inspiration for “Norma Rae”).

Anything editorial published these days by the Washington Post group (WashPo/Slate/the Root) should be taken with enough grains of salt to rim the margarita glasses of a whole flock of harpies.
It’s true, I’m afraid. Between that and the continuing asshattery of the NYT on women’s issues I’m going to have to start reading something else….but I don’t know what.
Camille Paglia is an embarrassment to the female gender. Just shut it, Camille.
On a more sociable note:
To All the Jewish Harpies (sing phrase to the tune of “Single Ladies”):
Yo, I’ma let you finish, and I’m happy for you, but Rosh Hashanah is the best New Year around (if you’re Jewish!).
L’shana tova!
Wow! Seems like that dude at the Root doesn’t like Black women. Or other women. Also, Black men, educated people, gay men, gay women, poetry, and maybe Herman Melville.
Possibly it’s not a coincidence that he’s “twice divorced, currently single and not taking applications.”
@mischiefmanager: LOL! I am blatantly and shamelessly stealing that for my status update tomorrow! L’shana tova tikatevu!
@pedimd: The “not taking applications” can only be a benefit for womanity, IMO.
@BeckySharper: I think “not taking applications” will benefit not just womanity, but everyone on earth.
Did you read the comments RE: the Camille Paglia birther thing? OH MY GOD THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE, I don’t know whether I should find it hilarious or just drown myself right now.
