Between Bitch, Facebook, Harpyness and e-mails I received, it was clear that plenty of women have strong opinions about not having sex, and why/whether conscious celibacy is an inherently feminist or sex-positive decision. I think that [conscious celibacy and sex positivity] are not polar opposites, instead puts the idea of a person’s bodily autonomy and integrity in the forefront of human sexuality and pleasure (regardless of sex and gender)… without privileging one form or type, and othering those do not conform.
What she said. I consider myself very sex-positive, yet I am currently practicing conscious celibacy for various reasons. My body is MINE: it doesn’t belong to Feminists or Conservatives or Humanists or Whatever. It belongs to ME.
