I may love New York, but not so much when it’s January and twenty degrees. The Christmas atmosphere buzz has worn off, the winter doldrums kick in full force. So I am happy to be getting on a plane today and flying out to the sunshine and warmth of Los Angeles, where I’ll get to see a Harpy reader or two and enjoy a DVD marathon, get some good food, hopefully see my beloved aunt, and generally recharge my depleted batteries before the spring semester starts. Considering that I had taken a grand total of one trip in the past five years prior to Harpy House last summer, I feel grateful to have these getaways now.
But! I will not be gone, in the scheme of things. I’ll be kicking around here on Harpyness, plus (probably to the annoyance of some Facebook friends) doing some ‘social networking.’ And then back to college and the grind of real life.
