We get a good troll now and again, but we get mega spam every day, all day. A lot of it is your typical “hey luv ur site get cheep v1a8ra!” crap, or “NICE! chat with singles?” but occasionally, the randomness of the spamosphere bestows a particular treat.
Last night’s appears to be a message from Bill S. Preston, Esquire and Ted “Theodore” Logan:
Really Nice Blog Dude, I shall be subscribing! …Want To Get ANY Girl You Desire? Visit: ImaGiantFuckingToolbag.net*
Thanks, Dude. I shall be mocking you! But perhaps you can hook me up with your friend Miss of Arc?
Stay tuned for more nutritious fare.
*I really wish this was the website, but it’s not. If it were, I would drive traffic there, spam or no.

I had some very strange spam the other day. The website linking to commenter was a “sell your property fast” affair, but the comment itself was a composite of a few prior comments I’d had. My blog is about grief so it went like this:
“You’re a beautiful soul. Its okay that you come here angry some days, sad others….what you write about specifically and how you write, isn’t our concern. We’re here reading, following, loving, and supporting you because we care about you—we enjoy who you are. And we can relate in your sorrow. You’re never alone—no matter how it feels.”
I actually feel a grudging admiration for whomever wrote that code – it’s a very sophisticated way to spam someone, no?
Has anyone else on skype started getting a lot more (esp. misogynist) spam lately? I’ve got quite a few messages along the lines of ‘fed up with bitchy Americans? Why not try a beautiful Russian girl?’
Endora, I got that skype too, among many others last week! I’m definitely getting a lot more skype spam lately, which is really annoying since I only use it at work and having those little gems pop up at my desk is inconvenient to say the least!
Glad to know I’m not the only one, at least, Marigold!
They drive me up the wall…
I get them too, Endora. It’s really annoying because I only go on Skype once a week to talk to my sister and lately I’ve had six or seven of those helpful messages popping up at once. How did they know I was looking for a mail-order Russian bride? It’s creepy.
Weird, I don’t use Skype much these days so I haven’t run across those yet. But I’m going to be using it a lot over the next few months, so now I know what to expect – thanks!
Sorry, I couldn’t resist:
