We were very humbled and honored by the submissions that poured in after we announced our search for new Harpyness bloggers. We had a difficult time narrowing down the list, but finally invited three women to join our team. It’s our pleasure to introduce Marie Anelle, foureleven and annajcook.
Marie Anelle is a professional puke cleaner, whining interpreter, and toy negotiator (aka mom) who also happens to be the world’s best receptionist. When she’s not navigating the canals of motherhood and work, she is one of those feminist activists your mother warned you about. With the epic support of someone she likes to call “Best.Husband.Evar.” Marie Anelle strives to champion the work/life balance and slay the Saintly Mother stereotype. Although she’d like to think of herself as scholarly, she is routinely outsmarted by her five year old girl who has recently acquired a new ally in life known as her brother.
foureleven is a 20-something who spends her days writing for blogs and pretending to use her journalism and history degrees. These days she is in grad school for something equally useless and will probably continue blogging once she graduates in a few years. She enjoys subscribing to too many podcasts in iTunes and too many blogs in Google Reader. If she weren’t married, she would be a crazy cat lazy in denial. Sometimes she probably is.
annajcook is poised to enter her thirties, an age she has aspired to most of her sentient life. She is a queer feminist, historian, librarian and blogger who lives in the Boston metropolitan area with her partner Hanna and a black cat named Geraldine. She grew up the daughter of quiet leftist radicals in a conservative corner of West Michigan and before moving to Boston spent time in Oregon, Missouri, Indiana and Aberdeen, Scotland. Her hopes for the next thirty years include returning to the British Isles, conducting an oral history project on the topic of comparative US-UK cultures of education, living in a lighthouse, marrying her girlfriend, and making headway on her “books to read” list.
We’ll add their bios to the “about” page shortly. We’ll also be running many of the excellent audition posts we received as guest posts over the next few weeks.
