I completely agree with Rox. Planned Parenthood once had a pamphlet on ways that would reduce abortions (and one thing that wouldn’t), which emphasized the need to make parenting more of an option for low-income people, and to make society more child-friendly. Also, of course, affordable contraception is needed, but you already mentioned that.

I agree, I wish I had had better education about relationships between (in the context of pregnancy men and women) — the issue of men pushing against using BC or condoms is not one I had any idea was a “thing”. Apparently it’s really common. Also, I think when we tell girls that if they say no, and the guy is being pushy, “he is wrong” and they don’t help girls figure out what to do if that happens. It never happens the way you think it’s going to happen.

We need more programs that help our youg girls (and boys) develop emotional awareness and supportive relationships with each other so they aren’t relying soley on some guy (who says he’s sterile) to make up for a broken family and no friends. Which I personally think is an understandable swap. I just don’t want others to go through it!

Here in Australia, the statistic is something like 1 in every 3 women will have an abortion.

The issues of education (for all students! regardless of whether schools are religious affiliated), contraception that is available and affordable, and having ethical and responsible sexual relationships (regardless of the length) are an absolute must.

There is no synchronicity. They care about zygotes. We care about women.

NYC probably attracts women from all over the state and its environs as well. We see that here in Pittsburgh-we get patients from West Virginia, Ohio, and even southwestern New York as well. Urban centers will do that. It could also be that going to a big city protects your anonymity as a patient.

Diaz and his nasty little woman-hating friends aren’t fooling anyone. They’re happy to take taxpayer money for their parochial schools and abstinence so-called education, but money to make women’s lives safer? Not happening.

They deserve better education from an early age so they know how to use those contraceptives. They deserve male partners who take on the responsibility of contraception themselves, instead of always making it the woman’s problem. What we don’t deserve is a lot of fussing from men in power about the choices we make when those options aren’t available to us.”

All of this is absolutely true! I think another thing that I would love to see on the feminist platform is better services for low income parents so that abortion can be chosen without the added pressure of feeling like parenting is not financially possible. Interestingly, the religious right doesn’t seem to think that women deserve such services.

Better that women be denied access to reproductive care AND be denied access to better resources for low income parenting such that they could have a good outcome for their child should they desire to parent.

Right? (sarcasm)

Texas is considering forcing prospective abortion patients to be forced to see an ultrasound and listed to the fetal heartbeat.

The world isn’t exactly moving toward helping people make reasonable, informed decisions.
