A big Harpy shout-out to hilarious and righteous Latina feminist blogger Oh Hells Nah—if you aren’t reading her blog, bookmark it now—for her Guanabee post “Four Examples of Women Empowering Each Other.”
Lately, most of my posts have been downers. After all, there is so much to talk crap about these days— from Snooki’s book to the rape of Libyan women. However, it’s important to remember that not everything sucks for women right now. It’s difficult to see this when we are constantly bombarded with devastating information, but there is hope. Women everywhere are empowering and protecting one another in various ways.
Click here to read. It never hurts to be reminded that sometimes things do go right for us, and we can make that difference for each other.

Thanks for linking to this (I read it, and it’s great). It definitely helps to be reminded of how we can empower each other.
I had an amazingly empowering experience tonight. It was so wonderful that I just really want to share it.
Two good friends of mine were presenting papers at my uni for a discussion called “Navigating Spaces: Queer Visibility, Inclusion, and Language.” I couldn’t make it, and neither could many of our mutual friends, so I organised an informal “Queer and Trans* Discussion” night for them to re-present their papers and others of us to share our lived experiences as queer and trans* people.
It was so. empowering.
Eighteen of us showed up, all total, and we encouraged each other, strengthened each other, and inspired each other.
I’m so excited about the resolution we’re trying to pass tomorrow night through the student government: it’s going to add gender expression and gender identity as protected under the discrimination policy in the student handbook.
I just saw I got some traffic from here. Thank you so much for the shout out! I will be linking your blog. I’m so glad to have found it.
@OHN: Love your blog! Come hang out with us whenever!
I would love to! Thank you!
