Um … wow. Shows you how out of it I was that I just now realized this never published.
*headdesk*
Here it is as it was meant to go up on March 2nd … and on Thursday I’ll have my talk from the Women’s Studies panel discussion to share with y’all. Looking forward to sharing!
As I mentioned on Tuesday, Hanna and I are off to Michigan tomorrow to spend a week with my folks and catch up with a couple of friends. The actual precipitating factor for the trip is that I was invited back to my alma mater, Hope College, to participate in the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Women’s Studies program (of which I am a graduate):

that would be me on the left, circa 2005
I’ll be giving two talks at the college, one on librarianship and my professional life after undergrad, and one as part of a panel discussion by graduates of the Women’s Studies program on how our lives (private, political, and professional) have been influenced by feminism and women’s studies.
This is my first real visit back on campus since graduating in 2005, and while I have a contentious relationship with the college as in institution, I’m looking forward to getting a sense of how current students and faculty are feeling about the direction of the college and the role of feminist thought and practice in that space.
I’ll be taking lots of notes and look forward to sharing my reflections and experiences with y’all upon my return.
