Ultimately, The End of Men is a book that uses a lot of paper and ink to say very little that is original or useful.</i> You said it there.

The other day on Hanna's podcast she talked about this book and the recent NYT excerpt from it. A town in Georgia has an economy that is mostly dependent on a big textile company. That company has been scaling down jobs for about 15 years.

The men were getting laid off and the women were entering the workforce, many for the first time, to pick up the slack. The women were taking jobs as admin assistants and what not, and the men were refusing those same jobs, because: pay cut.

Her podcast colleague said something like, the women have been weathering the economic storm in the town better than the men because they are permitted to evolve up, while the men are unhappy because they are forced to evolve down.

(nevermind what up and down may mean).

So Hanna says, wow I never thought of that.

wow Hanna, really?
